THE AUGMENTED TAILOR | 2018
Designing interactive solutions to augment the tailor’s artisanal activities through non-intrusive, invisible technology.
I performed primary research by interviewing and observing tailors during their activities. I identified user values that our solutions needed to address in order to enhance the artisanal tailoring process in a non-disruptive way, through emerging technology. We designed ambient interfaces and augmented tools to empower the tailors of tomorrow and enhance their experience by keeping technology invisible. We communicated the vision through experiential prototypes and video storytelling. (MIT Design Lab - Project under NDA, details not available).
Project lead + user research + design + prototyping + storytelling.
The diagram shows the main activities of the garment alteration process, and the values that the solutions should address in each step (colored dots), based on the results of the user research phase. The four values include memory, guidance, awareness, and communication. This diagram guided us in designing solutions focused on the users’ needs and values in each step of the interaction.
